Adopted by the membership on October 29, 2000
HAVING, AS WE TRUST, BEEN BROUGHT BY DIVINE GRACE TO REPENT AND BELIEVE
IN THE LORD Jesus Christ and to give up ourselves to him, and having been
baptized upon our profession of faith, in the name of the Father and of
the Son and the Holy Spirit, we do now, relying on His gracious aid, solemnly
and joyfully covenant with each other.
1. I will protect the unity of my church
...by acting in love toward other members
...by refusing to gossip
...by following the leaders as they follow Christ
Rom 14:19 So then we pursue the things which make for peace and the building
up of one another.
1 Pet 1:22 Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls
for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the
heart,
Eph 4:29 Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such
a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment,
so that it will give grace to those who hear.
Heb 13:17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over
your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy
and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you.
1 Cor 11:1 Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ.
2. I will share the responsibility of my church
...by praying for its growth
...by inviting the unchurched to attend
...by warmly welcoming those who visit
...by giving regularly
1 Thess 1:1-2 To the church
. We give thanks to God always for all
of you, making mention of you in our prayers;
Luke 14:23 And the master said to the slave, Go out into the
highways and along the hedges, and compel them to come in, so that my
house may be filled.
Rom 15:7 Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us
to the glory of God.
1 Cor 16:2 On the first day of every week each one of you is to put aside
and save, as he may prosper, so that no collections be made when I come.
Lev 27:30 Thus all the tithe of the land, of the seed of the land
or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORDS; it is holy to the LORD.
3. I will serve the ministry of my church
...by discovering my gifts and talents
...by being equipped to serve by my pastors
...by developing a servant's heart
1 Pet 4:10 As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving
one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
Eph 4:11-12 [God] gave
some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping
of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body
of Christ;
Phil 2:3-5, 7
do not merely look out for your own personal interests,
but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves
which was also in Christ Jesus
[who] emptied Himself, taking the
form of a bond-servant
4. I will support the testimony of my church
...by attending faithfully
...by living a godly life
...by being a Christian example in my home and community
Heb 10:25 not forsaking our own assembling together,
but encouraging
one another
Phil 1:27 Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of
Christ
Deu 6:4-9 Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!
You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all
your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding
you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to
your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you
walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. You
shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on
your forehead. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house
and on your gates.
1 Cor 10:31 Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all
to the glory of God.
Tit 2:11-12 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all
men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live
sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age.
